If you aren’t using Instagram for your Direct Sales business, you are seriously missing out! Instagram has over 500 million active users, and by 2017, 70.7 percent of brands will use Instagram to market their business. So how do you, as a direct seller, use this powerful social media platform for your own business? Here are some tips:

  • Optimize Your Profile

Keep your bio short and concise. Using your interests outside of your business, write a short series of things that describe who you are. Throw in an emoji or two just for fun. 🙂 These things will expand your reach to potential clients who aren’t specifically looking for your product.

Make sure to add a link to your Facebook page or business website. Individual posts don’t allow for hot links, so this is your one shot for others to follow you outside of Instagram.

  • Content

Create a cohesive look by using a consistent filter or color scheme. Statistically, bright, clean photos have a higher engagement rate, which will increase your reach. Think about your ideal customers and create images that will appeal to them. Follow the 80/20 rule when posting content. Users want to feel like they know YOU not the the product you sell. so throw in some behind the scenes photos or inspirational quotes.

  • Hashtag It

Don’t fear the #hastag. Be the #hashtag. Hashtags are SUPER important. This is how your non-followers find your posts. You are allowed 30 hashtags per post, but lets not get crazy, half that number will do. Make sure they are relevant to your post, and if you’re feeling extra frisky, create your own hashtag!

  • Engage Your Followers

Your followers want to feel included. Use your photos to ask them questions, ask their opinion or play a game. When your followers are engaged, your reach is expanded, and it boosts your ‘likes.’

  • Be Consistent

There’s nothing worse than a dead account. Post at least once per day. You don’t want your followers to forget about you. If you are like me and have a hard time remembering to post, consider signing up for a scheduler like Tailwind to schedule your posts, and receive a reminder when it’s time to post it!
